Hyundai Santa Fe, Sonata, and Tucson Recall: Your Next Steps
Select Hyundai Santa Fe, Sonata, and Tucson owners are encouraged to visit a Hyundai dealership to have defective engine sotware tested and updated
Transport Canada has issued a safety recall for select Hyundai cars and SUVs that may be affected by an engine malfunction. Approximately 255,370 units are being recalled, including:
- 2013-2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport,
- 2011-2018 Hyundai Sonata,
- and 2014-2015 Hyundai Tucson.
Hyundai Auto Canada is conducting a Product Improvement Campaign for owners of the affected models to detect potential problems that may lead to engine failure.
A vehicle with a malfunctioning engine is at risk of sudden loss of power while operating the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident on the road.
Hyundai Canada will notify all owners of the recalled vehicles by mail, where they’ll be instructed to visit a Hyundai dealership to have the defected engine software tested and updated. Visit the Hyundai Canada Recall Lookup to see if your vehicle is affected or call Hyundai’s customer service line toll-free at 1-888-216-2626 to learn more about the recall or to speak with a representative.
