F-150 and Lincoln Continental Recall: Your Next Steps

Ford Motor Company issued a recall for select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles. The automaker released a statement explaining that the recalled vehicles may have a defaulted 6-speed automatic transmission, potentially resulting in an unexpected shift to first gear without any warning to drivers.

On February 13, 2019, Ford Motor Company issued a recall for select 2011-13 Ford F-150 vehicles, as well as the 2018-2019 Lincoln Navigator.

The automaker released a statement explaining that the recalled vehicles may have a faulty 6-speed automatic transmission, which could lead to a loss of the output speed sensor to the powertrain control module, potentially resulting in an unexpected shift to first gear without any warning to drivers.

In 2016, Ford Motor Company issued a recall for select 2011-2012 Ford-150, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles due to a similar transmission problem.

Depending on the speed of the vehicle, an abrupt downshift could lead to a loss of control and cause rear tires to skid or lock, increasing the risk of an accident on the road.

This recall affects approximately 1.26 million F-150 trucks in the United States, as well as roughly 221,000 in Canada.

2018-2019 Lincoln Navigator Door Latch Recall

Ford is also issuing a recall for select 2018-19 Lincoln Continental vehicles because of malfunctioning door latches. Who’s affected?

Although the automaker is not aware of any reports of injuries or accidents related to this recall, approximately 27,000 vehicles in the United States and 1,200 in Canada are affected.

What should you do?

Ford dealers will remove and replace the latches in all four doors for owners with affected vehicles. Enter your VIN at this link to find out if there are recall notices or Service Actions on your vehicle.
