Meet the Canada Drives Hockey Team

The story of how one team in Calgary was able to pull together and play this year

Canada Drives believes that the power of sport is essential in helping Canadian youth develop important life skills such as working hard, self-discipline, and teamwork. Comprised of eighteen players between the ages of 10 to 12 years old, our office is proud to be the sponsor of this little league team in Calgary, Alberta.

In recent years, the price of having your kid play hockey has sky-rocketed. Montreal Canadiens player P.K. Subban told the The Globe and Mail that a year of hockey playing can cost up to $3,000 per child in the minor leagues. The Canada Drives sponsorship has helped to lower the high cost of playing the country’s national sport for this team of eighteen kids who will all participate in the Canada Drives spring league.

“We view Canada as a hockey nation” says VP client relations Michael Galpin. “By sponsoring youth leagues, we are able to lower barriers to participation in sports and provide kids with an avenue to pursue their passions”. The league will have ice practices and play games throughout the spring and summer of 2015.
